The technical issue that occurred on the morning of Thursday, October 3, 2024, affecting the handling of departing baggage at Helsinki Airport has been resolved, and the system was restored around 9:30 AM. Check-in and baggage handling have been operating normally since approximately 10:00 AM.

The technical fault impacted the handling of checked baggage for departing passengers at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport between approximately 4:00 AM and 9:30 AM.

After detecting the technical fault, Finavia immediately implemented a backup system for handling checked baggage, which allowed some checked baggage to be loaded onto flights on time. However, the technical fault caused a significant delay in baggage handling, resulting in slower check-in processes and several flights departing without all checked baggage.

The checked baggage left in the check-in area from the morning flights has been transferred to the baggage system after the systems were restored, where they will be security screened and X-rayed in accordance with EU regulations. Airlines will deliver the delayed baggage to their customers. For inquiries about baggage, please contact your airline.

Finavia apologizes for the inconvenience caused by the technical issue.
