"We are delighted that Bröner's products are now available to our passengers! Dining has become a significant part of the travel experience at the airport, and we continuously develop Helsinki Airport's restaurant offerings by following trends and passengers' wishes," says Nora Immonen, Finavia’s Director of Commercial Services Business for Helsinki Airport.
Bröner's story began with Tony Brander and Tim Hirvonen's pop-up restaurant, where they tested making meat skewers in the fall of 2023. The first Bröner restaurant opened in April 2024 on Vaasankatu in Helsinki's Kallio district. The restaurant's name comes from the words "Bros" and "Döner," hence Bröner.
Bröner serves authentic Berlin Döners, which are the most popular street food in Berlin and all of Germany. The origins of Döner, or kebab as it is commonly known, can be traced back to Turkey. Berlin Döner includes not only meat cooked on a spit but also plenty of fresh vegetables and various sauces.
The selection at Restaurant Bröner includes easy-to-take-away bread döners and platter döners to enjoy on-site. The offerings include beef döner made from Finnish beef, daily marinated chicken skewers, and a plant-based protein option.
There are two flavor profiles: the traditional Berlin Döner and the Korean Döner, with sauces and flavors inspired by Korea. In the near future, Bröner plans to launch seasonal products with changing flavor profiles every couple of months, featuring Greek, Mexican, and Moroccan flavors.
Bröner is one of six restaurants in the Food Hall area, which share a common dining area with cozy table settings in the arrivals hall on the first floor of the terminal. The Food Hall offers flavors from around the world and serves both departing and arriving passengers, airport visitors, and local business lunch-goers.
