The brand-new hotel complex has more than 700 rooms for air passengers and a rooftop restaurant and bar, as well as a spa with an outdoor hot tub. In addition to accommodation and recreational services, the hotel has an 825 sq m event space for more than 1000 participants and 21 meeting rooms that enable large, international events to be held right next to the airport.
"Last autumn, Finavia completed the historic Helsinki Airport Development Programme, which resulted in significant development of the airport and its services. The airport area as a whole has also followed this development. The 'airport city' combines flexible and varied services that meet the needs of passengers, businesses and the residents of the area," says Nora Immonen, Finavia's Director of Commercial Services Business for Helsinki Airport.
There are now five hotels at Helsinki Airport and in its immediate vicinity, with a total of almost 1,200 rooms and 33 meeting spaces. In the wider airport area, the number of hotels increases to a total of 12 hotels, which offer customers about 2,900 rooms and nearly 120 meeting spaces.
The new hotels have a direct indoor connection to the airport's arrivals hall, making the movement of passengers smoother.
"The indoor connection to the terminal allows you to easily get from your flight to the hotel and from your room directly to check-in. The connection also brings the terminal arrivals hall's restaurants, cafés and shops within easy reach of hotel customers. In addition to the hotels’ varied offering, you can shop at Alepa 24/7, visit the airport pharmacy or eat at the award-winning Food Hall," Immonen says.
Strawberry’s GLO Hotel Airport will also undergo a transformation at the beginning of June. Located on the ground floor of Helsinki Airport's arrivals hall, the hotel will change its name to Comfort Hotel Xpress Helsinki Airport Terminal. The hotel's interior will also get an update.
