Have you experienced all eight seasons of Finnish Lapland? Instead of four seasons, Lapland’s nature can be divided into eight periods, each with its own unique characteristics. The seventh season is marked by the first snow covering the ground.

After the vibrant colours of autumn fade, Lapland transitions into the time of the first snow. In September and October, the northern nights are dark, but there is still daylight during the day. The first snow adds more light to the landscape, making this season eagerly anticipated. The dark nights, in turn, invite you to search for the northern lights in the sky.

During the time of the first snow, travellers can admire the freezing of nature and feel the anticipation of winter. Before the polar night arrives, you can still enjoy longer day trips in the sunlight and experience the peace of Lapland before the busiest travel season begins. During the time of the first snow, you can already enjoy the first skiing trips of the winter.
