Pack only 100 ml liquid containers in your hand baggage

Helsinki Airport's liquids rules changed on 1 September 2024. According to the new rules, only 100 millilitre containers of liquids can be carried in hand baggage. A total of two litres of liquids may be carried per passenger. At Helsinki Airport, liquids do not need to be removed from the bag during security control.

Power banks and fire-making equipment are the most commonly removed products

Pack your power banks and fire-making equipment in your hand baggage. It is prohibited to carry these items in the hold of an aircraft. Only one piece of fire-making equipment per passenger may be carried.

In addition to large liquid containers, power banks and fire-making equipment are the most commonly removed items at security control. You can check the packing instructions for individual products by using the search function on the Finavia website.

Security control queue time estimate is being piloted

You can find the estimated queue time for Helsinki Airport’s security control on the Finavia website. The queue time estimate for security control, which we are currently piloting, is one concrete example of using data to improve the airport’s customer experience. We are developing the pilot version together with our customers, and you can give feedback on the pilot version via the feedback survey on our website.

We recommend that you always follow your airline’s instructions on how early you should arrive at the airport before your flight.
