Passengers departing on Norwegian, Lufthansa and SAS evening flights are asked to proceed to the security control in Terminal 2 (T2) after checking in and handing over their luggage. The security control in T1 closes at 10:30 a.m.
The security control in T2 uses new technology, which makes customer service and luggage scanning faster than before. The security control in T2 is open round the clock.
Getting to the airport in time in June: be prepared for crowds
In June, passengers departing from both T2 and T1 will be asked to arrive at the airport early, as there is a large number of holiday passengers about.
Make sure you have enough time to check in, drop off your luggage and go through security control so you can move to the departure gate at leisure. It is very important that passengers follow the check-in instructions and times provided by the airline.
The service sector is suffering from a global staff shortage, which is also evident at airports. At Helsinki Airport, the queuing times for security controls have at worst been around 30–45 minutes, so there are no queues of several hours, such as in Central Europe.
All flights to depart and arrive via a single terminal from 21 June
On 21 June 2022, Helsinki Airport will adopt the single terminal operating model. T1 and T2 will become a thing of the past, and all flights will depart and arrive via the new extension.
This spring, ten airlines have already moved from T1 to T2. Only Norwegian, Lufthansa and SAS continue to operate in T1.
