“Taxi services and their quality are very important to the airport. Smooth taxi services improve the customer experience and that is why we want to ensure that the service level at Helsinki Airport supports Finavia’s objectives”, says Jukka Isomäki, Head of Parking and Landside Traffic at Finavia, Helsinki Airport.
Finavia wants to contribute to the reduction of traffic emissions. For instance, Finavia grants zero-emission cars the right of way in the taxi area compared to higher-emission cars. In addition to environmental responsibility, another important factor in the tendering process was the consumer price.
With the competitive tendering for airport taxi services, Finavia ensures that:
- passengers can choose taxis that announce their prices visibly at the taxi station and that comply with the maximum price specified in the competitive tendering.
- taxis are always available at the taxi station, including at night and during peak hours.
- vehicles are as low-emission as possible and drivers serve in several languages.
- there is a sufficient number of taxis at the airport and traffic arrangements are smooth.
The Helsinki Airport development programme will bring taxi services into a premium location
Currently, taxi services at Helsinki Airport are located in front of Terminal 1. This is a temporary arrangement, about which you can read more in our press release.
With the development programme, taxi traffic will move to the immediate vicinity of Terminal 2 at the beginning of December. The taxi agencies that won the taxi service tendering will start their operations at Terminal 2 on 1 January 2022, in the lanes reserved for contractual taxis.
