The work stoppage has been announced to last for three days. The stoppage begins on Wednesday 24 October at 00:00 and ends on Friday 26 October at 24:00. The impact of the strike action is expected to be visible at security controls of Helsinki Airport.

The strike action may cause congestion at security control points. We request that passengers be prepared to queue and arrive at the airport in good time. Priority security control in Terminal 1 is not in use during the strike but passengers can use the Priority security control at Terminal 2. It is also important that passengers follow the information provided by the airline they are flying with. For up-to-date information, also visit Finavia.fi.

Finavia is not a party to this labour conflict.

”We will make every effort possible to minimise the impact of the strike. For example, we are working in close cooperation with authorities to ensure a high level of security at airports,” says Finavia’s Security Manager Ari Kumara.

Finavia apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused by the strike to passengers, airlines and other companies operating at the airport.

The parties to the labour conflict are the Service Union United (PAM) and the Service Sector Employers PALTA. The work stoppage will affect all tasks to which the collective agreement of the security sector is applied. A part of security control personnel fall within the agreement.

We will update this press release according to the situation.
