The renovation included the resurfacing of the runway, the taxiways and the apron. At the same time, the lighting system serving the runway and taxiways was modernised, and the taxiways at the ends of the runway were upgraded for wide-bodied aircraft.
The renovation and resurfacing of the runway began in May 2017 and proceeded in phases according to plan. The phased approach allowed the use of part of the runway even during the project.
Finavia aims to ensure the safety and smooth flow of air traffic as well as the airport’s continued ability to respond to the increasing demand for air travel.
