Helsinki Airport offers plenty of healthy and delicious options to those who prefer to eat food of their own choosing on the plane.

It’s early in the morning, and you find yourself at the airport with a coffee in hand and a rumbling stomach. You’re facing a long flight and have very specific culinary preferences, or your airline of choice won’t be serving a mid-air breakfast.

Helsinki Airport shops and restaurants provide a range of tasty snacks that you can grab while shopping tax-free, and eat later on the plane – without breaking the travel budget. Here are our top suggestions:

'Swing by Cafe Tori (Gates 26-27) for a classic porridge, a healthy mango-chia version or a fresh fruit salad (€3.90-5.40).

You can also find chia bowls in T1’s Johan & Nyström (Gate 13).

If you’re in need of a heartier meal, give Tapio Café’s (Gate 24) bacon and egg bagel a go (€6.90).

Another good option is the Wine & View (Gate 26) breakfast: for €9.90, you get a croissant with brie, ham and lettuce, yoghurt with granola and cloudberry jam, and an Americano.

Upper Crust (Gate 19) specialize in baguettes. Start your morning flight well with a Salmon or Ham Benedict Baguette (€6.90-7.50). Prefer to assemble your own breakfast?

Try out Fly Inn (Gate 27), who serve a plentiful breakfast buffet 6am-10am daily for €16.90.

Or, go to the Alepa store (Terminal 2, arrivals hall 2B) for anything from fruit and vegetables to snack on, to sandwiches, Karelian pies, and your favourite sweet and salty treats.
