On Tuesday, 16 December, passengers were greeted with an exceptional sight at Helsinki Airport departure gates 34 and 35.
Juggling bartenders made passengers fruit smoothies decorated with colourful umbrellas. Passengers were able to have their photo taken in front of a Miami-themed photo wall. A DJ entertained the audience with mellow rhythms, including Will Smith's song Miami, and the crew of the flight joined in on the song by shouting "Welcome to Miami!"
Finnair's new route between Helsinki and Miami was being celebrated at the gate. The first flight on the route took off towards sunny Miami at 10 a.m. The flight arrives in Miami at approximately 2 p.m. local time.
The passenger got a taste of Miami in the form of delicious fruit smoothies.
The bartenders entertained the passengers with their juggling skills.
The passengers could have their photo taken in front of the Miami photo wall.
The pilots and the entire crew also posed for a photo in their uniforms.
From Miami to Central and South America and the Caribbean
Miami and South Florida are popular holiday destinations among Finns, and a lot of Finns also live in the area. In addition, the route provides an opportunity to introduce Americans to snowy Finland.
Miami provides good connections to the Caribbean as well as Central and South America. The flight also provides a layover when flying to other North American locations. The flights have good connections to Finnair's domestic flights and flights to Sweden and Estonia.
The flight is a part of the transatlantic cooperation between Finnair, American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia. It provides passengers with plenty of opportunities to combine flights and route options from different airlines.
Three weekly flights to Miami
Finnair flies to Miami three times a week. Beginning from 16 December, flights will be operated on Tuesdays and Thursday and beginning from 3 January, also on Saturdays. Flights will be operated until 12 March 2015.
The route will be flown with an Airbus A340 aircraft.
