Taxi service at Helsinki Airport

Finavia will be responsible for the operation and development of the taxi station at Helsinki Airport starting from 1 May 2025. This page contains information for professional drivers who operate taxi traffic at Helsinki Airport.

There are four taxi lanes at Helsinki Airport. They are reserved for Finavia's four contractual partners for taxi services, which have been selected on the basis of competitive bidding. To operate at the Helsinki Airport taxi station, you need to have a valid agreement with one of the airport's contractual taxi service partners. The contractual partners maintain the driving rights for their taxi lanes independently.

The contractual partners for taxi services at Helsinki Airport are FixuTaksi, Lähitaksi, Menevä and Taksi Helsinki.

Operating in the pick-up area

The pick-up area is located at Rahtitie 2.

Vehicles entering the pick-up area are automatically identified by the licence plate if the vehicle has a valid right to operate with the company it is contracted to. There is an LED display at the entrance to the pick-up area that shows the identified licence plate number. The vehicle can then enter the area. If the display indicates that there is no space in the taxi lane of your company’s pick-up area, leave the barrier immediately and wait until space becomes available.

There is a display board in the pick-up area that shows the terminal’s current taxi requirement and the licence plates of the vehicles whose turn it is. The display shows the taxi service operators, the licence plate of the taxi that will go next, and how many cars can fit in the taxi lane at the terminal's taxi station.

Proceeding to the exit barrier of the pick-up area is only allowed when the display board in the pick-up area shows that there is space in the taxi lane of the operator in question at the taxi station. When driving to the barrier, always maintain an adequate distance to the vehicle ahead.

Moving from the pick-up area to the taxi station

When the display board in the pick-up area shows that there is space in the taxi lane of the operator in question at the taxi station, the next vehicle in line can proceed to the exit barrier of the pick-up area. When driving to the barrier, always maintain an adequate distance to the vehicle ahead.

The entry barrier at the taxi station of the airport terminal automatically identifies each vehicle based on the licence plate. As you approach the barrier, maintain a distance of at least 5 metres to the vehicle ahead to ensure that the system is able to identify your vehicle.

Taxis operating at the taxi station must always use the taxi lane designated for the company they are contracted to.

Picking up passengers

Taxi drivers have an obligation to assist customers with their baggage. If the customer has special needs concerning the vehicle, please contact the taxi coordinator for the company you are contracted to.

Leaving the taxi station

When the customer has entered the vehicle, drive out of the pick-up area immediately. When your vehicle leaves the taxi station of the airport terminal, it is automatically identified by its licence plate and removed from the system.

Pricing

A departure fee is charged for each ride. Effective from 1 May 2025, the departure fee is €3.00 (incl. VAT 25.5%).

Finavia charges its contract partners these departure fees at the end of each month, and the taxi companies pass the charges on to their drivers.

Problems at the barrier?

If you experience any problems at the barriers, you can use the phone provided at the barrier to contact Finavia's taxi station coordinator, or you can call +358 20 708 2060 for assistance.

Make sure that your licence plate is readable. The automatic identification of licence plates can be prevented by the accumulation of dirt, snow or ice, for example.

Picking up App Rides and pre-booked rides

App Rides and pre-booked taxis pick up their customers from the passenger pick-up point located on the street level of parking building P2. The area has a designated entrance (Parkkikuja) indicated by "App Rides" signs.

Using this passenger pick-up point is not subject to a separate agreement with Finavia. The fee for using the passenger pick-up point is €3.00 (VAT 25.5%)/visit/20 minutes. Payment can be made via the Moovy app or by card at the parking payment machine in the lift lobby.

Please note that the customer pick-up point is located at the back of the parking building. Once you have entered the area, do not stop immediately after the barrier. Instead, proceed to the pick-up point to pick up the customer.
