Ryanair’s scheduled flights from Milan Bergamo Airport will start on 27 October 2024 with three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. In April 2025, the flights will continue twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays, making the route year-round. The route will be operated with 189-seat Boeing 737 aircraft.
“We are very pleased with Ryanair’s decision to continue the route all year round. Ryanair is Europe’s leading low-cost airline and a very important customer for us. The Milan route will further strengthen the year-round accessibility of Rovaniemi and the whole of Lapland,” says Petri Vuori, Finavia’s Senior Vice President responsible for route development.
“Rovaniemi has actively developed its year-round accessibility, and we will now have an important flight connection to the area from Bergamo in Milan, Italy. The reputation of Rovaniemi as a destination in winter has created a good basis for demand in the Southern European market also during the snowless seasons. The new route offers excellent connections both for those travelling to the north and for locals wanting to visit Europe,” says Sanna Kärkkäinen, Managing Director of Visit Rovaniemi.
The route will already be the third international connection to Lapland that will be operated all year round. Discover Airlines and Edelweiss Air, part of the Lufthansa Group, have announced that they will continue their scheduled flights to Kittilä Airport in summer 2025: Discover from Frankfurt and Edelweiss from Zürich.
