"It’s fantastic that air passengers have once again selected Helsinki Airport as the best airport in Northern Europe! This year, we have already celebrated Helsinki Airport being selected as the best airport in Europe in its size category. It's clear that our airport has a strong position among the best airports in the world,” says Ulla Serlenius, Finavia's Senior Vice President, Helsinki Airport.
The SkyTrax survey is an internationally renowned passenger survey that measures the service level of airports and covers more than 550 airports around the world. The survey was conducted between August 2023 and March 2024.
In the survey, air passengers widely assessed the level of service and customer experience at airports at different stages of the passenger journey. These include check-in, security control and shopping and dining opportunities, as well as services for arriving and transfer passengers.
"Developing the customer experience was at the heart of the most extensive development programme in the history of Helsinki Airport, which resulted in the airport being completely revamped. In 2023, for example, we increased the amount of liquids permitted at security control to two litres, opened a total of 26 shops, restaurants and cafes at the airport, and modernised baggage logistics. It is no coincidence that we received the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the airport’s history last year."
The award is already the third in 2024 for Helsinki Airport, which is managed and developed by Finavia. The Airports Council International (ACI) recently recognised Helsinki Airport as the best airport in Europe in its size category. Helsinki Airport was also ranked as the fifth best airport in the world for business travellers based on SkyTrax’s research.
Helsinki Airport has now been selected as the best airport in Northern Europe a total of seven times.
"Year after year, we remain among the best airports in the world, because we set our goals high and work long term to achieve them. I would like to thank all Finavia employees and the entire airport community for the work we are doing together to ensure smooth travel. A world-class customer experience is built of many factors that every person working at the airport can influence through their own actions,” Serlenius says.
