"Regular flight connections are extremely important for the accessibility of both Lapland and the whole of Finland. Additionally, it is great that the residents of the area can also benefit from the new route in the summer," says Petri Vuori, Director of Route Development at Finavia.
The new route will be operated twice a week year-round, except in May when it will be operated once a week.
Popularity of Nordic destinations growing in Germany
Discover Airlines flew for the first time from Frankfurt to Kittilä Airport on December 17, 2024. The passengers of the inaugural flight were warmly welcomed at the wintery airport.

According to Discover Airlines, the popularity of Nordic destinations is growing in Germany, and the airline aims to meet the high demand with the Kittilä route. Kittilä is the airline's fifth destination in the Nordics.
Discover Airlines' new year-round route connects Kittilä Airport smoothly to many European destinations via Frankfurt. Discover Airlines is part of the Lufthansa Group.
