“We are delighted to have won the award and are proud that air passengers have chosen Helsinki Airport as the best airport in Europe. Year after year, Helsinki Airport continues to be ranked among the best airports in the world,” says Finavia’s CEO Kimmo Mäki.
The ASQ (Airport Service Quality) award was granted by Airports Council International (ACI), the international umbrella organisation for airports. They awarded the prizes to airports that were the best in their size and region class.
The award is based on a continuous measurement of customer satisfaction and service quality. The ASQ survey involves almost 400 airports from 95 countries each year. Approximately 4,000 air passengers are interviewed at Helsinki Airport every year for the survey.
In the ASQ survey, air passengers evaluate 30 different service categories, including guidance, customer service, check-in, shopping and dining.
For the past years, Finavia has been renewing Helsinki Airport's service and restaurant selection as part of the airport's extensive development programme. The departures hall, arrivals hall and security control have also been updated.
“We have designed and built Helsinki Airport and its renewed terminal for the air passengers. We believe that we have succeeded in developing an airport that serves the needs of different passengers in a versatile manner and improves the smoothness of travel.
In addition to the ASQ award, Finavia received an honourable mention for its long-term work for customer satisfaction. This ACI World Director General's Roll of Excellence recognition was awarded to only five airports worldwide. Over the past five years, Finavia has received the ASQ award in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.
“I would like to thank everyone at Finavia and all the companies and personnel operating at the airport for this fine achievement as well as the great customer service work that everyone working at the airport has committed to. A successful customer experience can only be created by working together,” Mäki says.
