– Our entire development programme has focused on positioning Helsinki Airport services and passenger comfort to be among the best in the world. We have invested not only in streamlining transfer travelling, but also in the comprehensive development of customer experience. Moving all the flights under one roof is an important part of our service reform, says Timo Järvelä, Finavia’s Vice President responsible for Helsinki Airport’s terminal processes.
The airport is now at a stage where new facilities are opened and old facilities are closed at the same time. In order to ensure easy and safe travel also during these changes, Finavia will implement new arrangements in a controlled way over several days.
Arrangements for passengers will take the form of temporary route changes in 23–25 May. During this time, it’s a good idea to follow signs and instructions given by staff even more closely.
The changes will be completed on 26 May, when passengers will be able to pass through the new security control directly to the departure gate area. The passengers will be greeted by a spacious and comfortable space with a view of the runway area and many new services that will open in the summer.
Finnish brands such as Marimekko and Balmuir as well as the Lindroos watch and jewellery shop and the women’s and men’s clothing shops AERA Women and AERA Men will be opening their shops in the summer.
Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 will become a thing of the past on 21 June
Some airlines have already moved from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. The single-terminal operating model will be adopted on 21 June, when Norwegian, Lufthansa and SAS will also move to the new extension and the terminal numbers 1 and 2 will become a thing of the past.
We ask passengers and everyone dropping off or picking up passengers at the airport to check the flight’s terminal information and departure and arrival times on our website before coming to the airport.
