In its media release, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom says that the State of Finland has granted an EUR 11.5 million appropriation for safeguarding flight connections to five towns: Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Kajaani, Kemi and Kokkola. The winners of the tendering process are:
- Joensuu–Helsinki: the Swedish airline Amapola Flyg AB
- Jyväskylä–Helsinki and Kemi–Kokkola–Helsinki: the Estonian airline NyxAir OÜ
- Kajaani–Helsinki: the Latvian airline A/S "Raf-Avia"
Traficom will agree with the winners on the start dates of flights, taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic and the needs of the regions.
