Designer Shangguan Zhe recommends getting to know both sides of Shanghai: the old and the modern.

See Zhe’s tips of the must-see places in his hometown below.

Power Station of Art

“There is a contemporary art museum in Shanghai called the Power Station of Art. I visit every one of its exhibitions because I think it's an awesome contemporary art museum. The building and venue are outstanding; I like them very much.”

1933 Old Millfun

“1933 Old Millfun is an old building in Shanghai that was originally a slaughterhouse. Its architectural design and functionality make it a very special place and I think it's really impressive.”

Anxi Second-hand Market

“This second-hand market is quite different. A lot of locals in Shanghai buy their clothes second-hand, but not the kind that we think are cool; they buy really old, used clothes. Besides clothes, you'll also find many other interesting things for daily use. So I think that it's a symbol of old Shanghai.”
