‘We have a network of many airports within a small geographical area. Thanks to this network, passengers can reach Lapland in an hour and then get swiftly to slopes or ski tracks’, says Finavia Marketing Manager Kaisa Venermo.
Finavia's Lapland Airports are an integral part of the service network supporting tourism in Lapland. Lapland Airports consist of six destinations in different parts of northern Finland. This winter you can fly to at least five of them: Kittilä, Ivalo, Rovaniemi, Kemi-Tornio, or Kuusamo.
All Lapland flights are direct from Helsinki Airport, and all are scheduled to ensure smooth transfer connections through Helsinki Airport.
For example, flights to Rovaniemi are available throughout the year, with a maximum transfer time of one hour from all international destinations and vice versa. The same applies for flights to Kittilä and Ivalo during the winter season.
On a snowmobile or to a sauna right away
Many Lapland Airports offer activities for tourists near the airport, or even accessible from the airport, if necessary.
At Rovaniemi, local service providers can bring snowmobiles to the airport for passengers to continue their trip within the snowy landscape.
‘Kuusamo Airport has a separate building with saunas and meeting rooms instead. At Kittilä Airport, you can purchase a security check service in the meeting area, so that the group can proceed from the meeting straight to the aeroplane’, Venermo advises.
