There will be plenty of air passengers again towards the end of the week, as many will choose to travel at Easter easily and comfortably by flying, also this year. The busiest day will be Holy Thursday when there will be plenty of travellers at the airport throughout the day.

Traditionally, the peak period for Easter traffic will start on Wednesday, continuing all the way to Saturday, with peak hours both in the mornings and the afternoons. Please arrive well on time at Helsinki airport if your flight departs on:

  • Wednesday 1 April at 7–10 a.m. or 2–6 p.m.
  • Holy Thursday 2 April at 7–10 a.m., 2–6 p.m. or 8–10 p.m.
  • Good Friday 3 April at 7–10 a.m. or 2–6 p.m.
  • Saturday 4 April at 7–10 a.m. or 2–6 p.m.

Please allow enough time to park your car, check in your luggage, and go through the security check. You can check-in to your flight in advance at the Internet site of your airline, or use the check-in kiosks at the airport.

The information on your flight schedule and gate information will be available 20 hours prior to the departure. You can search for the schedule and terminal information on your flight at the I'm departing site. The site also includes information regarding parking and driving instructions, and you can view the special offers at the airport in advance.

Reserve a parking space in advance

Have you noticed that you can now reserve a parking space at Helsinki Airport online in advance? The reservation makes travelling faster and smoother. At the same time, you will make sure that you have a parking space in your preferred parking area.

Packing skis for flying, and hints for families with children

If you are heading for a ski holiday at Easter, please check the instructions on how to pack skiing, snowboarding and downhill skiing equipment at our site.

We have created a special checklist for those travelling with children. If your child is travelling alone, you can check the instructions here.

Grocery store Alepa at the Airport is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. After your holiday, you can buy your breakfast and other fresh supplies at the airport. You can also order your groceries in advance online to be delivered to the arrivals hall with Alepa's Kauppakassi service (in Finnish).

The return traffic at Easter

There are lots of travellers at Lapland Airports during Easter holidays, especially in Kittilä and Ivalo. Please reserve enough time for baggage drop and security check.  If possible, please check-in online before coming to the airport.

Many passengers will return to Helsinki on Monday 6 April in the afternoon and evening. Passengers are asked to prepare themselves for congestion at luggage handover at 3–4 p.m. and at 10–12 p.m.

We recommend one family member picks up the luggage, while the others wait further away.

Finavia wishes all passengers smooth travel and happy Easter!
