Renovation worth about one million Euros was completed in February 2014. The goal of the renovation was to improve the customer experience, terminal's smoothness, comfort and services.
Customer flows were made more efficient and the number of passenger services was increased. Smoother and faster services were obtained by renewing the handover facilities of security control and luggage. Vaasa Airport also introduced a comfortable café/restaurant and a new store.

Annual passenger and landing statistics of the airport are published on Finavia's Traffic Statistics page. The airport's runway is 2,500 metres long. Vaasa Airport has been awarded the Domestic Airport in 2005, 2008 and 2017.
History
- 1938: The airport opens. Aero begins passenger traffic, which is later interrupted by the war.
- 1945: The airport building completed and passenger routes are reopened. The airport takes it current shape in the 1950s, when the runway is extended to 1,800 metres and the airport building is expanded.
- 1951: Vaasa Airport gets its first international connection as Veljekset Karhumäki opens a route to Sundsvall in Sweden.
- 1971: The runway is extended to 2,000 metres. Finnair begins jet traffic with DC-9 air crafts.
- 1993: The third and most significant expansion at the airport is completed. The airport now has separate facilities for domestic and international traffic. The airport's services are also improved significantly.
- 1998: Vaasa Airport takes a step towards more international aviation, as the runway is extended to 2,500 metres in October.
- 2014: The terminal's renovation was completed: a new baggage claim hall, security control rearrangement, another café and a new store
