Finavia is investing strongly in developing the passenger experience and aims to offer its customers increasingly varied services. The aim is to ensure passenger satisfaction from their home to the airport and back again.

As part of this, we are strongly developing Helsinki Airport as a shopping location in order to be able to meet the various needs of our passengers. Alepa's Kauppakassi is an excellent addition to our expanding service range. I'm glad that we can offer our customers yet another new way to use services – and the first in the Nordic countries to do so, says Anne Gullstén, director of passenger services at Finavia.
Alepa's Kauppakassi is Finland's largest and most well-known online grocery store. Customers select the products they want from the online store and the pick-up time. When the products have been collected and taken to a locker at the pick-up point, the customer will receive a text message containing a code which will open the locker. Pick-up is available almost 24/7 and at best the products can be picked three hours after the order was placed.
Grocery pick-up service still a rarity at airports
According to Jukka Ranua, eCommerce development manager at HOK-Elanto, the demand for online grocery pick-up services is increasing. Helsinki Airport is one of the first airports to react to this demand. It is also the first Nordic airport to offer this service.
- We believe that the airport is a well-suited environment for Kauppakassi. For example, if you arrive from your trip in the middle of the night, it is extremely convenient to have groceries for the whole family waiting packed in a cool box, says Ranua.
The service will be launched with a six-month pilot period, during which it will be tested and developed.
Alepa's Kauppakassi will serve customers at Helsinki Airport from 15 September. The collection point is located in front of the Alepa shop in arrivals hall 2B of Terminal 2, and it is open six days a week from 6 a.m. until 1.00 a.m. The selection includes all the products available at the airport Alepa, with the exception of alcohol and tobacco products.
As an introductory offer, the service will be free of charge until 30 September. From 1 October, the price of the service will be five euros. Alepa shop serves customers 24/7.
Finavia continues to develop Helsinki Airport
In addition to service reforms, Finavia has an ongoing seven-year development programme to prepare Helsinki Airport to serve 20 million annual passengers in 2020. The aim is to make Helsinki Airport the leading transfer airport for traffic between Europe and Asia.
