Destinations
Kittilä and its surroundings offer unbeatable Lapland experiences throughout the year. See our tips for unforgettable experiences, easily accessible from Finavia’s Kittilä Airport.

Kittilä and it's surrounding areas offer visitors nature, changing seasons and a wide range of activities. Two of some of the most famous ski and holiday resorts in Finland are located right by Kittilä Airport: Levi just 15 kilometres away and Ylläs around 35 kilometres. There's convenient connections to both destinations from Kittilä Airport, for example daily bus connections.

Arriving tourists can enjoy the magnificent fell scenery of the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park while waiting for their bags, because as soon as you arrive at Kittilä Airport, you will get to enjoy a view of the Aakenus and Yllästunturi fells. And as night falls, you can see a beautiful sunset as the sun goes down behind the fells.

Are you already familiar with sieidis?

Sieidis are absolutely worth a visit: you can find Äkässaivo in Ylläs and the imposing Taatsi sieidi in the Pokka area of Kittilä. Sieidis were sacred places in ancient Sami religions.

Glowing northern lights

In the summer, you can hike among the magnificent landscapes and, in the autumn, enjoy the autumn foliage, not forgetting the magnificent northern lights, which are at their most active in the north from the beginning of autumn.

During both the summer and winter seasons, it is also worth trying mountain biking on trails located in the middle of nature. For example, the Ylläs area has more than 100 km of maintained winter trails, some of which wend their way through the old-growth forests of the national park or run on the fells.
