Tuulenpoika (Son of the wind) was originally designed for Varkaus Airport, but is now part of Helsinki Airport’s art collection. This piece of art by Finnish sculptor Taru Mäntynen reflects the elements related to flying and freedom.
The sculpture is made out of bronze and displays a young man rising above with his hands turning into wings covered in feathers. According to the artist the work reflects human’s desire to win gravity and rise to the heights.
