Busy weekend ahead at Lapland airports from 15 to 16 January

The checking of COVID-19 documents and reintroduction of internal border controls may cause queues at Lapland airports during the weekend of 15–16 January, 2022.

Rovaniemi Airport will have the highest number of passengers on Sunday 16 January from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday will also be busy.

At Kittilä Airport both Saturday 15 and Suday 16 January will be busy. The peak hours are expected to be between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Ivalo Airport the number of arriving and departing passengers will stay evenly high during the whole weekend.

The number of passengers has decreased after the winter season during the last few days at Helsinki Airport’s but due to the checking of COVID-19 certificates, queues may occur at service points.

The number of sickness absences caused by the COVID-19 can affect airport services on a short notice. Passengers are advised to follow the airlines’ instruction concerning check-in times.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to exceptional arrangements at the airports, such as the checking of COVID-19 certificates and internal border controls. They take up more time than usual and are reflected in queues to other service points.

Since spring 2020, Finavia has required that everyone who visits the airports wears a mask. It provides protection in crowds. Do not travel if you are ill.
