The busy travel season, checking of COVID-19 documents and reintroduction of internal border controls will cause queues at Helsinki Airport and Lapland airports during the weekend of 7–9 January.

The busiest travel times by airport are as follows:

Rovaniemi Airport will have the highest number of passengers on Sunday 9 January from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Saturday will also be busy.

Kittilä Airport will be the busiest on Saturday 8 January. The peak hours are expected to be between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Helsinki Airport’s busiest arrival dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday 7–9 January, when the number of arrivals will be high. It is estimated that there will be long waiting times at the baggage claim.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to exceptional arrangements at the airports, such as the checking of COVID-19 certificates and internal border controls. They take up more time than usual and are reflected in queues to other service points.

When there are a lot of passengers, crowds are inevitable. In queuing situations, you can enjoy your travel with a touch of patience.

Since spring 2020, Finavia has required that everyone who visits the airports wears a mask. It provides protection in crowds. Do not travel if you are ill.
