The Kaivopuisto Air Show will be organised in Helsinki on Friday 9 June. The Air Show is part of the official Finland 100 programme, and among the largest public events during the centenary year.
The event organised by the Finnish Aviation Museum will present an exceptionally fine fleet that can rarely be seen anywhere. The show will include the Midnight Hawks and Red Arrows aerobatics teams, Finnish Air Force’s Hornet aircrafts and Finnair’s A350 aircraft.
Organised right by Helsinki city centre, the Air Show’s location is also unique. The last time a large-scale air show was organised in Kaivopuisto was in 1955.
The central location guarantees that the show can be seen from Kaivopuisto, but also from the city shores all the way from the Market Square to Hernesaari. The Air Show is open to all and free of charge.
Volunteers ensure a successful event
In addition to the organisers, volunteers also play a significant role in the Air Show. The event is still looking for volunteers for the show day and for a few days before and after the event.
Volunteers are needed as security officers, traffic control officers and roadies as well as VIP hosts and hostesses. Volunteers are still needed in the Kaivopuisto ground area, the nearby islands, patrol boats and air show air bases at Helsinki Airport and Malmi Airport in Helsinki.
Volunteers will receive meals and coffee during their working hours and a family ticket to the Aviation Museum. When you commit to act as a security officer for three days, you can also attend the security officer course paid for by the Aviation Museum.

Finavia is one of the Air Show’s two main partners
As the main partner of the Air Show, Finavia will offer parking and all other necessary services for the planes at Helsinki Airport. The planes take off for their show flights from Helsinki Airport alongside normal traffic.
Finavia will also be present at the event with its stand from where you can embark on a virtual time trip into the future of Helsinki Airport.
