Finavia has investigated various alternatives and considered moving the sculpture to one of its other airports. Unfortunately, no suitable location has been found. Therefore, Finavia will launch a social media campaign in November to find a new home for this wonderful work of art.
A well-recognised sculptor, Martti Aiha is the creator of several works of public art. In 2013, he received the Prince Eugen Medal, which is awarded annually to Nordic artists for outstanding artistic achievement.
Do you know a suitable spot for this spectacular wooden sculpture?
Although we would prefer to find a place where the sculpture can be admired by the public, it is possible to move it to a private location.
Due to the dimensions of the sculpture, which is nine metres tall and weighs 3,400 kg, finding a suitable location is not a straightforward task. Finavia will assist in disassembling the sculpture and can subsidise its removal and the preparation of the new location up to a maximum of EUR 10,000.
Finavia will assess the suggestions in cooperation with Mr. Aiha. If you can think of a suitable location, please tell us about it by e-mail or our social media channels by 8 December.
