In December 2024, Swiss airline Edelweiss will launch direct scheduled flights from Zürich to both Kittilä and Rovaniemi airports. The airline opened routes to Kuusamo and Ivalo in February, which means that there will be direct scheduled flights from Switzerland to every Finavia airport in Lapland.

"We would like to express our warmest welcome to the new routes to Kittilä and Rovaniemi! With the new openings, Edelweiss now offers scheduled flights to all four of our Lapland airports in winter. This is a clear demonstration of the work we are doing with our partners in the tourism industry to promote the accessibility of Finland, for which regular scheduled flights are very important," says Jonna Pietilä, Kittilä Airport Manager and Vice President, Lapland Airports at Finavia.

The route from Zürich to Kittilä will be flown twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, between 11 December 2024 and 26 March 2025.

Edelweiss will fly to Rovaniemi twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, from 12 December 2024 to 27 March 2025. The new routes will be operated with 174-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.

Edelweiss, which is part of the Lufthansa Group, started flying to Ivalo and Kuusamo last February. The flights will resume for a longer season in December, and Ivalo will also receive an extra weekly flight.

Detailed flight schedules and tickets are available on the airline’s website.
