Helsinki Airport has several play areas and baby changing rooms as well as restaurants and services that are popular with families with young children.
  1. Family-friendly parking

Your entire family can easily get to the airport by car. Helsinki Airport has four parking halls in front of the terminal and an outdoor parking area. For example, the P2 parking hall has wider parking spaces than usual, a lift connection to the terminal, and floors illustrated with animal figures and different colours. We recommend you book parking in advance.

  1. Children’s play areas

There are play areas for children at the airport. At gates 16 and 20, there are nature-themed play areas where the youngest members of the family can play. Maja Living Room is located at gate 52 after the passport control and is a space for people of all ages to get a bit of exercise before their flight.

  1. Moomin characters in the terminal

If the smaller, and maybe also the bigger, members of your family like the Moomins, the airport has several locations where you can enjoy the Moomin characters, such as the Moomin shop in the arrivals hall, the gate area 22–26 and the Moomin café at gate 40.

  1. Baby changing and breastfeeding facilities

There are several quiet spaces at the airport for baby changing and breastfeeding. There are separate baby changing rooms next to the toilets. Baby changing supplies are also available in the airport’s accessible toilets, which are more spacious.

  1. Prams and pushchairs

When it comes to prams, the rules vary according to the airline. If you have to leave your pushchair at the check-in, children who need it can continue their journey through the terminal using a pushchair provided by the airport.

Pushchairs and prams that will go in the plane’s hold must be packed in a protective bag. Some airlines offer passengers a protective bag at check-in.

  1. Children’s meals

Baby food, such as purées, can be packed in hand baggage and taken through the security control to the gate area and on board the plane. The restaurants at the airport offer children’s meals, high chairs and the opportunity to heat young children’s own meals and milk bottles.

The food court at gates 22–26 allows the whole family to eat in a common seating area overlooking several departure gates. The food court offers popular dishes like burgers and pizza as well as takeaway products.
