In total, ten million passengers have flown on Norwegian via Helsinki Airport since the company started flights from the airport in 2010.

To celebrate this milestone, Bjørn Kjos, CEO of Norwegian, visited Finland to surprise passenger number 10,000,000 at Helsinki Airport. Jenna Jokela received two return tickets in the Premium class to any long-distance destination offered by Norwegian.

To raise spirits even higher, two new routes available from Helsinki Airport were announced: In 2017, Norwegian will fly from Helsinki to Amsterdam and Pristina.

“We wish to warmly congratulate Norwegian for reaching the milestone of ten million passengers, and we are very happy to have the new connections to Amsterdam and Pristina from Helsinki Airport. We are also happy for this increase in the available routes as we aim to provide our passengers with good connections to different parts of the world. At the same time, we are expanding Helsinki Airport, tearing down our old terminal walls from the way of future growth,” says Kari Savolainen, CEO of Finavia.

Finavia is running a major development programme to expand Helsinki Airport and increase its transit capacity.

“The threshold of ten million passengers we crossed today at Helsinki Airport indicates that our passengers appreciate low prices and modern aircraft with a high level of comfort. I am also happy to announce our new destinations, Amsterdam and Pristina. Both of these offer volumes of culture and sights,” says Bjørn Kjos.

Through the addition of these new destinations, Norwegian offers nearly 40 direct routes from Helsinki Airport.

New this winter: Direct flights from London to Lapland!

Norwegian launched its first flights from Helsinki Airport to Oslo and Stockholm in 2010. Since then, the company has expanded its network of routes, which currently covers 38 direct flights to Europe and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

In 2011, Norwegian opened its own base at Helsinki Airport. Norwegian also offers domestic flights in Finland between Helsinki and Ivalo, Kittilä, Oulu and Rovaniemi. In addition, Norwegian flies between Rovaniemi and Gatwick, London, as well as Oulu and Las Palmas and the southern airport in Tenerife on Canary Islands.

The Helsinki–Amsterdam route will be flown on two days a week on Thursdays and Sundays, starting from 20 April 2017. The Helsinki–Pristina route will be flown once a week on Thursdays, starting from 22 June 2017. Tickets for these new routes are now available at www.norwegian.com.
